When the FBI Came To Town, One of Vermont's Mysteries

“When the F.B.I. Came to Town: One of Vermont’s Mysteries”, researched and written by Mary Fregosi, relates the mystery surrounding the claim by Earle Willson, a Rutland businessman, who supposedly had received a threat to kidnap his two children if he did not bring a specific amount of money to a spot on the golf course.

The entire story ,complete with F.B.I. men roaming the country side, mysterious boxes, mysterious cars, takes on the appearance of a mystery novel.

The Rutland Herald provided the best source for this fascinating tale of Crime in Rural Rutland in 1934, with a total of fourteen articles related to the mystery, which was never solved. These sources are cited at the end of a carefully researched and entertaining article.
